Artist Statement
The emotions that accompany us when we face life’s difficulties are the ones that captivate me the most because I started experience a lot of them at a young age, when I couldn’t yet understand them.Even though I’ve always struggled to identify those emotions in myself when I’m experiencing them, I’ve always been able to recognize them in others.Seeing that others go through what I’m go through, has always brought me a sense of comfort, because it makes me feel less alone,I started creating paintings that express what I feel—but through someone else’s face—and then
surrounding myself with them to comfort myself and survive the hardest times.Through my work, I hope to share that sense of reassurance that comes from feeling deeply understood,from knowing that we are not alone during the hardest moments of our lives.
